India investigates cough syrups after Gambia deaths

The World Health Organization connected four cough syrups to the deaths of 66 children in Gambia, prompting the Indian government to initiate an investigation. Laboratory testing had shown the syrups to have unsafe levels of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol, both of which are poisonous to humans and can be fatal if consumed. The WHO stated that although the goods have so far only been found in The Gambia, they may have traveled to other countries through illegal markets. I think this is a serious problem since third of all pharmaceuticals in the world are made in India so more people could be affected by this problem. Sick people taking medicine thinking they will get better could be actually unconsciously digging their own grave. If you think about it it’s quite scary that medicine producers can put anything in their drugs and illegally start selling it.

  1. Surely, not ALL drugs in the world are made in India?
And what is this invisible ink bit doing in the middle of your post?
